i am writing in here to repair my relationship with my computer

i’ve been playing with a drummer and bass player who can read my mind.  it’s sounding great and i’m realizing all these things i either

can do now

or don’t have to do because they’re taking care of it

like for instance, i can

a) stop playing sometimes
b) not maintain the groove
c) SOLO
d) not be responsible for basslines
e) eat and drink during songs**

also, i was going to post a picture of band practice but not until i figure out a better lighting situation in there

linda perhacs & friends, i’m the backup singer you can’t really see

Linda Perhacs - Parallelograms

The Ladies Choir was asked to perform Parallelograms by Linda Perhacs at an upcoming tribute show.  I listened to Parallelograms and couldn’t figure out what was going on so I took it apart, which ended up being helpful to the choir.  But I’m still not sure it’s right, especially the middle part on the second page… I wrote my best guess at the rhythm but I really want to know if she knew what she was doing?  The second half of the first verse is not real.  Sometimes I wrote dotted quarter notes and sometimes I tied an 8th note to a quarter note, also the repeat sign is on the wrong page.. Look how cute it looks small! (click to view larger.)

life-altering realizations about the beatles

just now i was listening to yesterday, and it ocurred to me that when he says “i said something wrong, now i long for yesterday,” that he’s actually telling us that he said something wrong (and wished he hadn’t.)  obviously.  but i always assumed he was asking her if something was wrong. like in norwegian wood when they’re asking and saying.
i said, “something wrong?”
